Friday, January 2021: The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) held a flag off ceremony attended by cashew stakeholders across the country at an online virtual event. Welcoming participants, Hon Ojo Ajanaku President of the association enjoined the three segments within the cashew value chain – production, processing and trading – to collaboratively work together to optimise the value of cashew to Nigerians and the Nigerian economy. The cashew sector generated N113 billion ($300m) between March 2019 and March 2020, according to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics. Hon Ajanaku enjoined all stakeholders to support the industry by planting more cashew trees to increase production of the product since it can grow in all parts of the country.
